Apple Pie From Scratch

What’s up everyone?!

Sorry for the super long absence. A lot of crazy things have been going on, but I’m back, and I’ll be posting two videos this week as an apology to you all. πŸ˜€

Today’s video happens to be in celebration of Fall πŸ™‚ A delicious home made apple pie! Now, I know not everyone likes apple pie, but hopefully you get something from this video you do like, i.e. the home made crust portion πŸ˜€ It just seems like a delicious crust that you could try on your cherry pies, your four berry pies, what have you. πŸ˜›

As always, the recipe for this entire thing will be in the comments below. It makes it easier on me that way, and you guys don’t have to go on a wild goose chase for ingredients or things like that this way.

By the way, I’m also going to leave our subscription box below in case you’d like an special email whenever I post a new video here. No spamming, I hate doing that, just a simple “Hey there’s a new video” message just for you. πŸ™‚

With this, I would like to thank you for enjoying the videos. There will be another one tomorrow so keep an eye out πŸ˜€

Enjoy the flavor, everyone!

    Pie Dough
    2Β½ cups flour
    1 teaspoon salt
1Β½ sticks butter, cold and cut in cubes
    4-8 tablespoons ice water

2Β½ pounds Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced
    ΒΎ cup sugar
    2 tablespoons flour
    Β½ teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    ΒΌ teaspoon nutmeg
    Β½ lemon
    1 egg, beaten
    1 tablespoon sugar
    Vanilla ice cream

    1. Preheat the oven to 375Β°F/200Β°C.
    2. In a medium-sized bowl, add the flour and salt. Mix with fork until combined.
    3. Add in cubed butter and break up into flour with a fork. Mixture will still have lumps about the size of small peas.
    4. Gradually add in ice water and continue to mix until the dough starts to come together. You may not need all of the water, but if the dough is too dry then add more. The dough should not be very tacky or sticky.
    5. Work the dough together with your hands and turn out onto a surface. Work into a ball and cover with cling wrap. Refrigerate.
    6. In a bowl, add the sliced apples, sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon.
    7. Mix until combined and all apples are coated. Refrigerate.
    8. On a floured surface, cut the pie dough in half and roll out both halves until round and about β…›-inch thick.
    9. Roll the dough around the rolling pin and unroll onto a pie dish making sure the dough reaches all edges. Trim extra if necessary.
    10. Pour in apple filling mixture and pat down.
    11. Roll the other half of the dough on top.
    12. Trim the extra dough from the edges and pinch the edges to create a crimp. Make sure edges are sealed together.
    13. Brush the pie with the beaten egg and sprinkle with the sugar. Cut four slits in the top of the pie to create a vent.
    14. Bake pie for 50-60 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and no grayish or under-cooked pastry remains. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
    15. Top with ice cream and enjoy!

I know this is a little late coming, but I wanted to thank you for visiting my site and I hope you enjoyed my trip across the Atlantic and back to Canada and it’s east coast ports.
I like your site and found it interesting and instructive, I must not read it for too long or I will put on weight, keep up the good work.

I think I may have found the gluten free/dairy free recipe for my pie crust so I may give it a run this weekend. We have stormy weather coming and hot apple pie sounds good!
